Darien Library is seeking a friendly, energetic, dedicated individual with excellent technology skills to join a first-class team of professionals to provide top-notch customer service and helpdesk support to library users.
Responsibilities: The part-time technology position is responsible for staffing the Help Desk in the Darien Library Power Library. This position will assist public and staff with their questions about any of our software and computing platforms in a professional and courteous manner, and should be ready to research answers using a variety of manuals and resources. The Help Desk staff member will assist patrons in getting started using the equipment in the Digital Media Lab (DML) and refer patron to further assistance using the DML manual and online and library resources. Additionally, this position will provide oversight for the Teen Room and may occasionally be called upon to provide assistance to teens and parents in that area. This position will also attend to other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: The most important qualification for this position is excellent customer service and instructional skills. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to communicate complex, technical concepts in simple, easy-to-understand language, and be able to help users with a variety of computing needs, from very basic to advanced. The candidate must also be familiar with industry-standard operating systems and software products as well as online service offerings.
Schedule: This is a part time position that will include weekdays, evenings, and up to two weekends per month. Candidate must be prepared to work at least 10 hours per week, but will not exceed 29 hours per week.
