Planting Party

Plant the seeds in the Library’s very own children’s garden! The garden will be tended to by “Groovy Gardeners” on Wednesdays, July 2 to August 13. Registration for the Planting Party begins Monday, May 19.
Julius Caesar Storytelling

Shakespeare on the Sound’s upcoming performance of “Julius Caesar” will be adapted and performed by storyteller Tom Lee. This Shakespeare story contains some violent themes. Free tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to program.

Craft a Story with Sean Bryan

How does a book get made? Darien picture book author Sean Bryan will discuss his latest children’s book, The Juggling Pug, to explain the creative process. Then he’ll craft an original story with the group! Registration begins Monday, May 19.
Groovy Gardeners
Ages 6 to 11 Wednesdays, July 2 to August 13

Get your hands dirty; build a grand garden on the Library’s front lawn! All the gardeners are welcome to attend a dinner with food from the garden on Thursday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. Register for two Wednesdays beginning Monday, June 23.
Something From Nothing

Art teacher Jody Tiedemann will guide students to create funky, fabulous artwork from everyday objects. Registration begins Monday, June 23.
Playtivity

Letterboxing: Trek to Treasure

The outdoor scavenger hunt craze comes indoors! Learn the basics and perform a whirlwind hunt throughout the Library. Registration begins Monday, June 23.
Beat the Heat Movies for Preschoolers

Watch the movies based on the picture book favorites Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems and Big Brown Bear’s Up and Down Day by David McPhail. Caregivers are invited to attend or remain in the building. Free tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to program.
The Science Genie

The Children’s Museum of Connecticut will demonstrate lasers, combustion, and weird science — like electric pickles! Free tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to program.
A Visit from “Mother Goose”
Ages 2 to 7 Wednesday, August 13

Internationally-known storyteller Lenka Pichlikova will lead a program for young children that transforms childhood favorites into “interactive fun” through the use of song, dance, drama, and mime. Free tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to program.
Big Truck and Car Day

9 to 11 a.m.
Come to the Library and get up close to some favorite rescue and construction vehicles belonging to town organizations. The rain date is Thursday, August 21. Registration not required.
