JUNE

Eric Berlin - Author and Puzzler     Wednesday, June 26 from 4:!5 to 5:15 p.m.

Eric Berlin is a professional puzzle constructor for both kids and adults.  He is also the author of Nutmeg nominee, The Potato Chip Puzzle, and will have kids solve a series of puzzles in this brain-challenging event.  Ages 7 to 12.  *Space is limited, tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to the program.

Tween Film Fridays     Fridays, 1 to 3 p.m.

Junior film buffs can cool down every Friday with a screening of classic movies, like King Kong or The Red Balloon.  All movies will be rated PG.  Ages 10 to 12.

JULY

Peter Boie, Magician for Non-believers     Monday, July 1 from 3 to 3:45 p.m.

Magician Peter Boie creates an enjoyable atmosphere for families with his unique brand of magic.  Kids of all ages will be entertained by this fascinating performance.  Ages 5 to 12.  *Space is limited, tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to the program.

Stories by the Sea     Tuesdays, July 9 and 23 at 10 a.m.

A family storytime for all ages at Darien's Weed Beach Park.  This program is co-sponsored by the Darien Parks and Recreation Department.  All ages.

Wolves of North America     Wednesday, July 17 from 3 to 4 p.m.

The Wolf Conservation Center of South Salem, NY will bring its Arctic gray wolf, Atka, for a special visit to Darien Library.  Experience an up-close encounter with this important, but misunderstood predator.  Learn about the history of wolves in the U.S., the importance of wolves in a healthy ecosystem, and the efforts to save these magnificent creatures for future generations.  Grades K to 5.  *Space is limited, tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to the program.

Now Hear This: The Sound of Science     Tuesday, July 23 from 3 to 4 p.m.

The Museum of Science, Boston, will show kids how to rock out to the science of vibrations, sound, and music.  Using a range of dynamic experiments, kids will learn how to build their own speakers, use a note to shatter a wine glass, and make music using a variety of strange instruments.  Ages 8 to 12.  *Space is limited, tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to the program.

AUGUST

Karen K and the Jitterbugs     Thursday, August 1 from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

Retro-rock for the entire family!  Karen K and the Jitterbugs are in town for a high-energy performance that will have tots and parents dancing in the aisles.  Dubbed the "Kiddie Queen" by Brooklyn Paper, Karen K has been named a Critic's Pick by New York Magazine and Time Out New York.  The band will introduce songs from its new album, Big Ol' Truck.  Ages 2 to 7.  *Space is limited, tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to the program.

Stories by the Pond     Tuesdays, August 6 and 13 at 10 a.m.

A storytelling program for families at Darien's Tilley Pond Park.  This program is co-sponsored by the Darien Parks and Recreation Department.  All ages.

Birds of Prey     Wednesday, August 14 at 4 p.m.

The Connecticut Audubon Society will teach students about the special adaptations of raptors and the role they play in the ecosystems.  Grades K to 5.  *Space is limited, tickets distributed 15 minutes prior to the program.
