The Language of Baklava by Diana Abu-Jaber
As the oldest daughter of an American mother and Jordanian father, Diana Abu Jaber grew up learning that meal preparation, cooking, and unforgettable feasts with relatives teach as much about identity, family and love as they do about food. Why does this concept seem to exist more in non-American families? Is our lifestyle more geared to the fast-food strip than to a slower pace where one can savor family and friends?
