BookMANIA! Returns

For those eagerly watching the white board in the Library, we know you'll be excited to hear BookMANIA! returns this February! BookMANIA!, I must explain, is a book activity program for children ages 7 to 9. Hear a story, discuss, do an activity, eat a fun snack. What could be better?
Dates are February 10 from 4:15 - 5:15 p.m. and a special BookMANIA! session with artist Lori Lohstoeter will be on Friday, February 24 from 4:15 - 5:45 p.m.
No advance sign up necessary; BookMANIA! is a drop-in program.

Sleepytime Stories
Eat fast, throw on your pajamas... It's time for Sleepytime Stories!
Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to our pajama storytime. We'll have songs, stories, and activities... and don't forget the sleepytime dust. Drop in anytime.
Tuesdays in February beginning February 7. 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Award Winners Announced

As Nutmeg at Nite is tomorrow, this will be brief, but I wanted to let everybody know that the National children's award winners, including the Caldecott, Newbery, and Printz, were announced this morning. I have the winners up now, and hope to have the honors on our website by tonight. See the winners at our website.

Kids Predict Award Winners

Our two mock-awards committees predicted the following books to win the national awards. We're pleased to present our picks. Caldecott Kids is grades 2-3 and Newbery Visionaries is grades 4-5.
Caldecott Kids predicted the following titles to win this year's Caldecott Award:
Winner: Beyond the Great Mountains by Ed Young
Honors: Show Way by Jacqueline Woodson & Lights Out! by A. Geisert
Newbery Visionaries predicted the following titles to win this year's Newbery Award:
Winner: The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall
Honors: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan & Listening for Lions by Gloria Whelan
