Nutmeg Bookgroup Meets March 22nd

hahalf.jpg
Our Kensuke's Kingdom bookgroup was a rousing success, thanks in part to the tropical fruits we all sampled. While bananas and pineapples were nothing new to most of us, the mangos were an exotic treat.

We'll discuss Half and Half by Lensey Namioka on Wednesday, March 22nd from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The bookgroup is for grades 4 to 6, and a light dinner is served. Children are expected to read the book before the discussion (otherwise, we may spoil the ending for them!) Register by calling the Library at 655-1234 x117.

Sleepytime and BookMANIA! drop-ins

One of the questions we hear the most at the Library is "Do I need to sign up?" But for two of our most popular programs, the answer is - just drop on by when you're free. Here are the March dates for Sleepytime Stories and BookMANIA book activity program.

Sleepytime Stories meets Tuesdays, March 7, 21, and 28 from 6:30 to 7 p.m., for 3 to 5 year olds. Wear your pajamas. **Remember, we don't meet the week of Darien schools' vacation.

BookMANIA! meets Fridays, March 10 and 24 from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. for children in grades 1 to 3 who love a good story. Snacks will be served.

Just drop in!

Soundwaters @ the Library

Come touch a horseshoe crab, hold a sea star, and learn about the local plants and animals
that live and grow in Long Island Sound.

Children ages 4 and up are welcome to join us for our Soundwaters visit on Wednesday, March 15, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Free tickets will be distributed 15 minutes before the performance.

BookMANIA! stars Lori Lohstoeter

loril.jpg Ever wondered how a picture book is made? Local illustrator Lori Lohstoeter joins BookMANIA! on Friday, February 24th from 4:15 - 5:45 p.m. to talk about the creative process. BookMANIA! is for ages 7 to 9.

Lohstoeter is the illustrator for Beatrice's Goat, a book based on the true story of a Ugandan girl whose new goat allowed her to follow her dream of an education. Intrigued? Don't miss our special edition of BookMANIA! Registration is not required.
