Congratulations Summer Readers!

Congratulations to the hundreds of children who completed summer reading at the Library! Last night we had our finale event with author Bruce Coville, and I just realized we were all too spellbound by his Frankenstein impressions to take any pictures :( So, to make up for that mistake, I include a photo of the book he mentioned, The Monster's Ring. And now, get ready for school! See our fall calendar to help fill those spare moments.

Getting My Act Together

Logically, it's only August 15th, but in the mind of Staples (where I just spent farrr too much money on school supplies for a class that will last only a week) it's already fall. So I must admit I felt behind when I finally posted all of our fall programs on the website this weekend.
Bottom Line? Tons of stuff. So much stuff, I had to divide it into categories (I'm a librarian. I do that.)
Bookgroups - including Nutmeg Bookgroups, BookMANIA! and Book Award Buffs
Storytimes - including Sleepytime and Fall registered storytimes
Tech Classes - for children grades 3 to 5
Special Programs - including the Tooth Fairy and So Long Snicket and Book A Film.
So while I will probably blog about all these things individually, this is a post NOT TO BE MISSED! Get out your planners, and be prepared for fall fun!
Okay, slightly over the top, but heartfelt. :)

A Little Taste of China with Norma Chang

We had a blast last Wednesday cooking with Norma Chang, The Travelling Gourmet. Norma showed us how to cook Chicken with Bok Choy, Show Peas, & Baby Corn and Turkey Pearl Balls. It was delicious!
Norma also taught us about different varieties of rice, not only white and brown but also red and black. She talked about the history of the Chinese abacus and Chinese scissors, and told us about vegetables like baby bok choy.
To learn more about Norma visit her website at Luv2Wok.com.
