So Long, Snicket

snicketweb.jpg

It is an unfortunate event indeed that the world has come to the end of Lemony Snicket's most dismal and most popular A Series of Unfortunate Events books. From The Bad Beginning, in which we meet Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire, miserable yet resourceful orphans, readers knew they had found something special. And now, facing The End, the last of Mr. Snicket's 13 desperate, despairing books, we're not sure how we feel. Sanguine, dolorous, or merely lacking the extensive vocabulary necessary to express our conflicting emotions.

Friday the 13th is not only the day that The End is released to the public. It's also the day of the Darien Library's So Long, Snicket! Evening Event. We'll be celebrating the end of Lemony Snicket with a hilariously somber evening of games and fun.

Join us Friday, October 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for a game show just as strange as the books themselves. Children grades 3 to 5 can play; Register beginning October 2 by calling the Children's Room at 655-1234 x117.

So Long, Snicket is also a great opportunity to involve your older children in a Library event. Responsible teens grades 7 and up are needed to set-up and be team captains. The uniform is a black top and jeans or black pants. Sign up (anytime) by calling the Library at 655-1234 x117, emailing us, or IM @ deweydarien.
