Parent Advantage Workshop

Learn techniques to navigate some of the library's most interesting databases to aid in school assignments and then use those skills in a technological scavenger hunt. Each parent wants his or her child to be an enthusiastic learner. What steps should parents of preschoolers follow to ensure a successful school age child? Children's librarians will present the vital facts of early literacy and brain development that every parent should know. Picture book author Nancy Elizabeth Wallace will be visiting the Library this fall. Register for each session individually by calling 655-1234 x117.

Wednesday, October 10th from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
Creating Picture Books
Grades K to 2.
Author Nancy Elizabeth Wallace reads one of her books, shows her tools shows the process of how a picture book becomes a book, shows her tools, and through a highly interative demonstration shows how her illustrations are created. Children will also see original artwork.

Wednesday, November 7th from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
How the Pictures Tell the Story
Grades K to 3.
Author Nancy Elizabeth Wallace reads Paperwhite, shows students her tools, and does an interative demonstration about cut paper illustration. The program includes planting a paperwhite bulb with the children.
