Drop-In Storytimes
Come as you are to our drop-in storytimes for ages 3 to 5! There is no registration required. Caregivers, please remain in the library for these storytimes.
Sleepytime Stories
Ages 3 to 5
Tuesday from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
April 1st (We start up again the first week of July!)
Friday Stories
Ages 3 to 5
Friday from 1:15 to 1:45
April 4 (We'll start up again in the summer. Join us then!)

There Is Still Time to Register!
Registration for Winter 2008 storytimes is ongoing through January 7, so stop by our website to complete your registration online. Storytimes are available for children birth to six years. We'll also be continuing our popular Creative Corner Toddler Bookgroup and Music and Movement with Miss Mary, and sign ups for those programs begin January 2nd.
We look forward to seeing many children this winter in storytime!

Winter Storytime Registration
Registration for our Winter storytime lottery begins Monday, December 3rd at 9 a.m. Also available December 3rd will be our winter schedule of programs including storytimes, technology classes, bookgroups, and other special programs. Watch the web for further details; register during December.

Storytime!
Ready to fall on the floor laughing? Look no further than our summer storytimes, continuing throughout July. You needn't register for any of our summer storytimes, and each storytime is 30 minutes long. Below is a brief list of summer storytimes.
Tuesdays, June 26 - August 7th
9:30 to 10 a.m.
Giggles and Rhymes storytime for pre-walkers up to 15 months with caregiver
Tuesdays, June 26 - August 7th
10:30 to 11 a.m.
Born to Read storytime for walkers up to 24 months with caregiver
Tuesdays, June 26 - August 7th
4:15 to 4:45 p.m.
Bookworms storytime for ages 5 and 6 (caregiver remains in the building)
Tuesdays, June 26 - August 7th (not July 17)
6:30 to 7 p.m.
Sleepytime Stories for ages 3 to 5 with caregiver in the building
Wednesdays, June 27 - August 8th
9:30 to 10 a.m.
Side by Side storytime for 2 year-olds with a caregiver
Wednesdays, June 27 - August 8th
10:30 to 11 a.m.
Totally Preschool storytime for 3 and 4 year olds (caregiver remains in the building)

Fall Storytime Registration
What's more fun than storytime? Not much!
Fall Storytime registration continues through Friday, September 8th. You can register at the Library or online. Results of the Storytime lottery will be sent via email and snail mail by Friday, September 15th.

Fall Storytime Schedule Set
The Fall storytime schedule is set and is available on our website. We have storytimes for children birth to six years, and registration starts on our website and in the Library beginning August 1st.
Here are a few of my favorite things about storytime:
1. The baby brigade as the Giggles & Rhymes storytime heads down the stairs.
2. Halloween costume week in storytime, especially when you realize that one girl has been wearing that costume every week and you've just noticed.
3. The varied, amusing, and often charming, things the children tell us they are thankful for the week before Thanksgiving. (My dog, my toys, my brother, my mother, food)

Summer Storytimes
Storytimes are back starting next week! Summer storytimes go from June 27th to August 9th. Storytimes are 30 minutes in length, and no registration is required.

- Giggles and Rhymes for prewalking babies and a caregiver. Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.
- Born to Read for walkers up to 24 months and a caregiver. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.
- Side by Side for children age 2 with a caregiver. Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.
- Totally Preschool for ages 3 and 4. Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
- Bookworms for ages 5 and 6. Tuesdays at 4:15 p.m.
- Sleepytime Stories for ages 3 to 5. Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.

Sleepytime Stories
Sleepytime Storytime is back for the summer! Join us Tuesdays in July beginning July 11 from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Sleepytime is for ages 3 to 5. We'll share stories, flannelboards, games, songs and poems. Don't forget your pajamas! There is no registration required for this program. More information can be found on the Children's website.

We know many of you have missed storytime (no more long faces, please!), so we're happy to tell you storytimes are back for the summer.

Giggles and Rhymes
A little something for the stroller set this month. Giggles and Rhymes storytime is for prewalking babies and their caregivers on Tuesday mornings at 9:30. Storytime will take place April 25, May 2, and May 9. There is no need to pre-register, and all are welcome at one or all three of the sessions.

Giggles and Rhymes Storytime
There will be a special 4 week mini-session of Giggles & Rhymes storytime beginning Tuesday, April 18th from 9:30 - 10 a.m.
Storytime is for pre-walkers up to 15 months (with a caregiver), and no registration is required. Participants may attend individual sessions or the entire 4 week storytime. (Session: 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9).

Sleepytime Stories
Eat fast, throw on your pajamas... It's time for Sleepytime Stories!
Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to our pajama storytime. We'll have songs, stories, and activities... and don't forget the sleepytime dust. Drop in anytime.
Tuesdays in February beginning February 7. 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Time is Running Out
Anna (hope she's not reading this! (Hi, Anna!)) is reminding all of us there are just a few days left to register for storytime. So I'm stealing her tagline - Time is Running Out. Register online or in the Library by Friday, January 6th for Winter 2006 storytime. The Children's Room offers storytime for children birth to 6 years old.
Here are few humorous reasons to participate in Darien Library storytime:
*You'd like to interact with other parents with infants who NEVER sleep (Choose Giggles & Rhymes)
* Your toddler just beat you over the finish line in the last 5k race (Choose Born to Read)
* Your two-year-old wants to know how gravity, fuel injection, and aerosols work (Choose Side by Side)
* You'd like one day a week when you didn't need to read 11 bedtime stories (Choose Totally Preschool)
* Storytime might help distract your child from alphabetizing your day planner (Choose Bookworms)
* Your children are too calm just before bedtime (They won't be after Sleepytime Stories, but I solemnly promise it's not (er, always) my fault!) (No registration required for this one; we'd fill up immediately)
Join us for storytime; we end the last week in March, and our wonderful storytimes and amazing story leaders will whisk you straight into spring!

Storytime Registration begins December 1st!
Remember to visit the Children's website on or after Thursday, December 1st to register for Winter 2006 storytime. But don't stress. It's a lottery registration, so parents have until Friday, January 6th to submit an online or in-person registration, and there's no advantage to registering early versus later in the month (except to mark one thing off your to-do list!). Parents will need a Library card to complete the registration.

Last Chance for Fall Storytime Registration
Have you registered your child for the Fall Storytime Lottery? Come into the Children's Room to fill out a form or log onto the Children's Room website www.darienlibrary.org/children to find out more about upcoming storytime offerings. Registrations will be accepted until September 7.
