Art Exhibition: Award-winning artist Joyce Roberts Heck displays her watercolors in the Main Reading Room through December 4, 2005.
Foreign Film Series: The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, October 28 at 8 p.m. Considered by many to be one of the most romantic and beautiful movies ever made, this is the film that made Catherine Deneuve a star. Every word of dialogue is sung in Jacques Demy’s musical fantasy about ill-fated love. With it’s haunting and beautiful music The Umbrellas of Cherbourg urges us to watch and listen. Free admission. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. French with English subtitles.

Parenting Program: Laura Gauld, co-author of The Biggest Job We’ll Ever Have: The Hyde School Program for Character-Based Education and Parenting, will be at the Darien Library on Thursday, November 3 at 7 p.m. Free tickets will be distributed 15 minutes prior to her Library presentation.
BookMANIA! For ages 7 to 9, Friday, October 28, 4:15 – 5:15 p.m. Share a story – fantasy, historical fiction, humor, or folk tale, and then enjoy activities crafts, and games reflecting the theme of the book. Snacks provided. Registration is not required.
Sleepytime Storytime: Tuesdays, 6:30 - 7 p.m., for children 3- to 5-years-old. Wear your pajamas. No registration is required.
