THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY
Annual Meeting: Philip Van Munching, former Darien resident and author of the best-selling book Boys Will Put You On a Pedestal (So They Can Look Up Your Skirt): A Dad’s Advice for Daughters, will be the featured speaker at the Annual Meeting of Friends of the Darien Library on Sunday, October 23 at 5 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. Preceding the speaker, election of officers and new trustee nominations for the year 2005/2006 will take place.
Art Exhibition: Award-winning artist Joyce Roberts Heck displays her watercolors in the Main Reading Room from October 26 through December 4, 2005.
Foreign Film Series: Dear Frankie October 21 at 8 p.m. Having run away from her deaf son Frankie’s violent father, his mother Lizzie has since written him letters posing as the dad describing his adventures at sea aboard the HMS Accra. Frankie has been tracking his “progress” and finds that he is to dock in their hometown soon. Lizzie must decide between telling him the truth or finding someone to play his father for one day. This film is from the United Kingdom. Free admission. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Nutmeg Book Group: Grades 4 to 6, Wednesday, October 26, 6-7:30 p.m. Discuss one of this year’s Nutmeg Children’s Book Award contenders “Once Upon a Marigold” by Jean Ferris. Register by calling the Children’s Room, 655-1234, x117.
Sleepytime Storytime: Tuesdays, 6:30 - 7 p.m., for children 3- to 5-years-old. Wear your pajamas. No registration is required.
