Public Hearing: Dollars and Bricks

On Wednesday evening, January 18th at 7:30 pm, we will hold a public hearing on our budget proposal for the 2006-2007 fiscal year. At the same session, we will provide up-to-date information about the new building project. The hearing will be held in the Community Room at the Library.

During the budget hearing, we will provide in-depth information about our budget, which we will be presenting to the Board of Selectmen the next week, on January 26. This will be the Library's first such public hearing, and we are hoping to get lots of questions and suggestions.

Also on January 18th, we will present an overview of the status of our new building plans, including progress in receiving approvals, the schedule for groundbreaking, construction and completion, and a view of our plans. Please be there so we can keep you updated on our progress, and answer your questions.

Fa-la-la-follow-up!

Wow! Last evening's Holiday Program at the Library was extraordinary! The Rick Sadlon Quintet performed and, boy, were we the lucky listeners! I know this space is typically used to announce upcoming events, but, this outstanding program was just too wonderful to go without a follow-up. Rick Sadlon, James Allen, Dylan Speilvogel, Bill Bickford, and Robert Aires compose the Quintet and those of us who scraped the snow off of our cars to travel to the Library to experience this festive treat were not disappointed. It was fun! The spirit was contagious! The jazz was top-notch! The band performed a few classics, some Christmas standards, and we had the special pleasure of hearing some of Rick Sadlon's wonderful original compositions! Like I said, "Wow!" The crowd was wowed. There were lots of smiles. Lots of cheer, cheers, and even a few tears (mine, during "The Christmas Song"). What a great start to the Holiday season!

Join us for joyful sounds!

The cold front is pushing in reminding us that it really is December and the Holidays are indeed upon us. Take a break from the cold (and the shopping) and stop by the Library this Sunday, the 4th at 5:30 for our Holiday Program. There will be light refreshments, a warm fire, and the cool jazz of The Rick Sadlon Quintet. What a wonderful way to start the Holiday season!

See you there!
