Coming to the Library Near You!
The curtain's about to rise on our popular Friday Night Film Series here at the Library. We begin on Friday, February 10th and continue every week until April 14th. We'll take you right through the Oscars and deliver you well into warmer spring evenings.
We begin with three films that are surrounded by interesting and difficult family histories and dynamics:
FEBRUARY 10
In Her Shoes

Two motherless sisters with a history of conflict break off relations when the more carefree and irresponsible one sleeps with her sibling's boyfriend, but they eventually reconcile with the help of a grandmother they never knew they had. An event movie for every woman who's ever had or been a mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, or friend.

Catherine is a devoted daughter who must come to grips with the death of her father who was a brilliant math professor who had lost his grip on reality. She is helped through this process by one her father’s former students who helps her search through her father’s notebooks in hope of discovering some of his brilliant ideas. This haunting tale demonstrates the fragility of life and love.

Walk the Line

Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Patrick, Shelby Lynne, Dan Beene
The early years in the life and career of music legend Johnny Cash, whose work transcended musical boundaries to reach out to everyone. A testament to making art and music and being young, the film explores the world he came from and his experiences beginning a career during the birth of rock and roll. It also is a love story detailing Cash’s burgeoning relationship with June Carter.
