Open House: The Library will hold a first-ever public hearing concerning its upcoming budget proposal on Wednesday, January 18th at 7:30 pm in the Conference Room at the Library. Members of the Library’s administration and the Library’s Board of Trustees will be available to discuss the Library’s plans for fiscal year 2006-2007, and to provide details about the budget proposal, which will be presented to the Board of Selectmen on January 26. The Library will also present an overview of the status of its new building plans.
Art Exhibition: Award-winning artist Gayle Asher, and his students from the Darien Arts Center, will exhibit in the Main Reading Room until February 13, 2006.
Adult Technology Education Programs: Have a question about our downloadable audio books? Maybe you’d like to send some of your holiday photos to friends and relatives, but don’t know how to attach them to your email. Our January technology center Open Houses will give you the opportunity to come in with your questions and meet one-on-one with a member of our tech staff. These programs will be held in the Darien Technology Center at Darien Library, Thursday, January 12 or Thursday, January 26, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Book Sale: The Library’s Winter Book Sale will take place Friday, January 13 through Tuesday, January 17. The sale is open during the Library’s regular hours.

CHILDREN’S ROOM
Library Detectives: Students in grades 3 and 4 will learn about the Library’s online catalog with instructions on finding children’s books, Thursday, January 19, at 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. The class meets in the Children’s Room, with a limit of five children per session. Register by calling the Children’s Room, 655-1234, x117.
Teen Painting Night: Thursday, January 12, 6 to 8 p.m., create decorations to be used during the children’s program “Nutmeg @ Night.” Dress for mess! Call the Children’s Room to sign-up, 655-1234, x117.
