It's still cold enough for a coat...or cloak

...and dagger! Professor Jordon Pecile returns to the Library in March for the Book Discussion Series. This Spring, we present THE MURDER BOOK.

lincoln lawyer.gif

We begin this pleasurable adventure into the world of the whodunit in March, and we're off to a great start with a wildly popular book that was a favorite with readers and critics alike. The discussion book for Sunday, March 19th is The Lincoln Lawyer by best-selling author Michael Connelly.

Janet Maslin of the New York Times said, "Mr. Connelly hurtles into the realm of the legal thriller with excitingly renewed energy and a full bag of tricks."

USA Today's Carol Memmott weighed in with, "The Lincoln Lawyer is Connelly's first legal thriller and is one of the best novels he has written, if not the best."

If you need more convincing, click here to read more reviews.

Come and join us for some dead-on discussions Sundays at 2:30 p.m. from March 19th through May 7th.

Meet the Family

familystone.jpg

Our Friday Film Series continues on March 3rd with The Family Stone. This film's got a great cast and is loaded with lots of interesting storylines. It throws you head-first into the midst of crazy family life and just barrels along from there. I really like this movie. It's funny. It's touching. It's a little bit nuts. It's thoughtful. It's sad. And, did I say funny?

Come and join us on Friday and meet the Family Stone!

Next up!

walktheline_earlyposter.jpg

On Friday, February 24th, we will be showing Walk the Line as part of our Friday Film Series here at the Library. This is such an entertaining film! It's not just a great story with (obviously) great music, it's a powerful love story too. It focuses on the early years in the life and career of music legend Johnny Cash. A film that works to honor this story, it delivers much more than a "greatest hits" tribute. Come see the Oscar-nominated performances of Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. You won't be disappointed.

Spring is just around the corner...

lori-lohstoeter.jpg

...or maybe it just feels that way here at the Library. After you enter our doors and encounter our welcoming and friendly circulation staff, prepare yourself, because just around the corner, an enthusiastic burst of vibrant color and warming trends await. The new art exhibit went up this morning and it's oh-so-lush, and it's oh-so-fun! Renowned artist/illustrator Lori Lohstoeter's exciting exhibit will be here until March 27th. You won't want to miss it! It practically hums with the anticipation of warmer days ahead, and vacations and memories past. The animals, children, and families in her drawings depict such peace and tenderness. Her birds are so graceful, regal, and playful, and her insects are (call me crazy) almost cuddly. It's easy to see why her work as a children's book illustrator has earned her such acclaim!
