"Book-a-Trip" Wrap-Up
We've had such a successful summer of reading at Darien Library! Wow!
We'll be wrapping up our "Book-a-Trip" Adult Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, August 22nd at 7 p.m. with a Grand Finale Wine & Cheese Party. Featuring author Stacy Lytwyn Maxwell, this party rightly comes under the heading of EVENT !

Stacy Lytwyn Maxwell
Maxwell, an award-winning journalist and author of Consummate Connecticut: Day Trips with Panache will be our special guest for the Grand Finale. 13 years of research has resulted in this fun and fabulous book featuring 48 different Connecticut cities, towns, and villages and all there is to see and do in the Nutmeg State.
Here's what the media is saying about the book:
"The book is about the people who make this state great!" -- News Channel 8 -- WTNH.com
"What did I like best about this book? After reading the book, I want to book a vacation to Connecticut." -- Writer's Digest
"Come and celebrate a summer of reading! Find out the best places in Connecticut to visit, enjoy delicious wine and cheese, and learn who won the Grand Prizes!" -- Darien Library

"Faces of Light (TM)" Opens
...and Ben and Trudie Larrabee opened up to us in an interview for podcast. Our Art on View through August 20th, Faces of Light (TM): Stories from Breast Cancer Survivors went up on Tuesday morning in the Main Reading Room and this exhibit is even more stunning and powerful than I'd imagined it would be. This art show is more than just a photography exhibit (though no exhibit is just anything (except extraordinary) when Ben Larrabee is the artist). You must come by and experience it for yourself.

Ben and Trudie Larrabee
Recently, Ben and Trudie met with Janet and me for an interview and you can listen to the podcast by clicking right here. You'll note that the recording seems to start mid-interview...it actually started pre-interview at Ben's suggestion (and, after all, he is the creative genius(!)).
