As a result of the efforts of the Darien Domestic Violence Task Force, the powerful Silent Witness exhibit will be on display at the Library this Thursday and Friday, and at Town Hall next Monday and Tuesday.

The Connecticut Silent Witness Exhibit is a traveling tribute to women in Connecticut who were murdered as a result of domestic violence. Featuring 13 silhouettes, the exhibit includes the names, ages, and histories of 11 women who were murdered in 1996 by their husbands, former husbands, or partners. The 12th figure represents the women whose deaths were not recognized as being caused by domestic violence, and the 13th figure represents women whose lives continue to be at risk unless appropriate assistance and intervention is made available.

The Library will open this Friday evening, the 28th, from 7 - 8 p.m. for a special viewing of this exhibit.

Then, at 8 p.m., we'll be showing the film Waitress downstairs in the Program Room. This is a wonderful story about finding hope within hopelessness. It's a real crowd-pleaser of a film and we are very pleased to bring this film to town as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
