When life gives you lemons...

My "lemon" came in the form of an e-mail at 2:18 p.m. on Friday, announcing (yet another!) delayed film release. (Grrr.) Resurrecting the Champ is delayed. This time the change in release date impacts our first film for April. I cringed. I winced. And then... we made lemonade. I say "we," because I took this dilemma to our audience and we came up with a solution.

Rather than shift any other films out of place, we're going to do a flat-out substitution. On Friday, April 4th, we will show either Michael Clayton or The Kite Runner...whichever one does not win this week's Friday Film Vote.

michael clayton 325.gif the kite runner 325.gif

The deadline for voting for Friday's Film is tomorrow, so check back here on Thursday morning to find out the winner!

(See? Lemonade.)

From REAL Life to "Dan in Real Life"

Tonight, we showed the documentary, In the Shadow of the Moon, a film about the Apollo Space Program and its astronauts. Real life stuff. Real life and death stuff. Next Friday, the 21st, we'll be showing the comedy, Dan in Real Life, a gem of a movie starring one of my favorite comedic actors, Steve Carell.

daninreallife_posterbig.jpg

Also starring Juliette Binoche, Dane Cook, John Mahoney, Dianne Wiest, and Emily Blunt. Oh. And some cute kids. You won't be able to resist the charm of Dan in Real Life.

Friday's Film of the Fearless

The next film of our Friday Film Series will be In the Shadow of the Moon, a documentary about voyaging to the moon...and the men who walked on the moon.
intheshadowofthemoon305.gif

The interviews with the surviving astronauts are not to be missed. Juxtaposed with the archival footage of these men, it's really stunning. We are also treated to some of the original NASA film footage. In 1969, it was a thrill to watch it all unfold on our televisions and we still remember what it felt like to witness such an event. I couldn't even begin to imagine what these brave men must have felt....

...until now. You see it in their faces...hear it in their every word...warning! Goosebump alert!
This lovely package of a film packs a really powerful punch whether you're old enough to remember this period in time or not.

Join us on Friday, March 14th at 7:30 p.m. as we watch, remember, and applaud these awe-inspiring moments in our history.

History Boys Left Out in Cold

The_History_Boys_4183_medium.jpg

Last Friday's icy and dangerous weather not only interrupted our Friday Film Series rhythm, it (so rudely!) interfered with our Friday Film Vote. Since we had such a fun go at selecting our winner, I just can't let it go; I'd hate to disappoint such a loyal and supportive audience.

Here's what we're going to do: We will have a special showing of The History Boys on Saturday, April 21st at 7:30 p.m. A quick check in with The Farmer's Almanac alleviates any major weather concerns for the evening.

Cheers!

What do YOU want to see on April 7th?

Dear Friday Film Audience,

We have received notification that the film, The New World, which we had reserved to show on April 7th will not be available because its release date has been changed.

Of course, this is disappointing; however, we've decided to give you, our audience the final word on what you would like to see that evening!

Here are the choices:

Prime Memoirs of a Geisha Everything is Illuminated

Click on the picture above to link to the Studio websites where you can read about the films, and even view Trailers and clips!

Once you've made your selection, click on the comments link below and type in the title of the movie you'd like to see that night!

Deadline for voting is Friday, March 17th.

See you at the movies!
