Monday Matinees for March: In Like a Lion and Out Like a Champ
Here are the movies that we'll be showing during March for our Monday Matinee Movies:
Half Nelson – Ryan Gosling, Anthony Mackie, Shareeka Epps
Rated R; 106 minutes; 2006
Dan Dunne is a dedicated inner-city junior high school teacher who tries to both teach his kids history and to inspire them to make their future better. Dan is also dealing with a serious drug habit and when one of his kids finds him strung out in the school bathroom they begin an unorthodox friendship.
March 12

Infamous – Toby Jones, Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sigourney Weaver
Rated R; 110 minutes; 2006
While researching his book In Cold Blood about the 1959 murders of a wealthy Kansas family of four, writer Truman Capote developed a close relationship with convicted murderers Dick Hickock and Perry Smith. What started out as a standard issue “whodunit” turns into a complex bond in this biographical drama.
March 19

Come Early Morning -- Ashley Judd, Diane Ladd, Stacy Keach
Rated R; 97 minutes; 2006
Lucy is a wild emotionally repressed Southern woman who hides her pain in drinking and one night stands. When a newcomer gives her unexpectedly tender attention Lucy must decide if it is possible for her to have a sober sustained relationship in this beautifully acted character study.
Rocky Balboa – Sylvester Stallone, Burt Young, Milo Ventimiglia
Rated PG; 102 minutes; 2006
Philadelphia’s favorite son Rocky Balboa has been retired for some time, but when a virtual online match-up shows that the “old Rocky” would have beaten the new champ, public interest calls for a bout. When he is offered a real shot at the reigning Heavyweight Champion he must decide if he has what it takes to make another comeback.

Since last Monday's snow put a "Half-Nelson" on our Monday Matinee...
...we'll be showing Half Nelson this Monday, March 5th. Yes, the weather last week did put somewhat of a stranglehold on the best-laid plans, so we're offering a second chance to see this worthwhile film that features Ryan Gosling in his Oscar-nominated role from 2006.
Showtime is 11:30 a.m.
Doors open at 11:00
Admission is free!

Movie for Monday Matinee, February 26th
Our movie for this Monday's Matinee Movie will be Half Nelson.

Come and watch Ryan Gosling in his Oscar-nominated role! If Forest Whitaker stumbles in his (well-deserved!) awards tour tomorrow night at the Oscars, it will be because of this man. Whether Gosling wins or not, this is a picture and a performance worthy of lots of attention. We gladly pay them some. Click on the picture below to watch the trailer for the film.
Show time is at 11:30 a.m.
Doors open at 11.
Admission is free!
