Blogs to beat the winter blues

The winter months can feel so isolating! No matter what the weather, we're always happy to see you here at the Darien Library. But, if flurries or the flu keep you away, we can keep you in touch and up-to-date with our blogs.
Blogs (short for web logs) are online journals featuring short articles. Our blogs are grouped by category and the entries (posts) displayed chronologically. Different members of our staff post to the blogs, bringing different voices, expertise, and interests to our website and our town. With just a click, our blogs provide links to our catalog and far beyond our walls. Right now you can stay current on books, movies & music, Library events, information & technology, and find out always-fun information from the children's room, including what your teens may be interested in. We also present, from our cheerful circulation staff, The Front Desk Speaks with lively remarks and welcome suggestions for books and weekend movies. The Library also takes pride in having created the Darien Community Matters Blog, an information resource for the town. The Library is responsible for maintaining this blog which focuses on issues of interest to the Darien community. Recent posts have addressed Emergency Preparedness, the Nearwater Lane Development, TV 79, and the Town Plan. Here is where you'll also find links to vital town entities and the two local newspapers. Keep watching as we add more blogs in the near future!
In our continued effort to best serve our patrons, we post new entries to the blogs frequently, so you will want to check back often, or subscribe. Of course you don't have to be homebound to enjoy our blogs. Visiting the Library and becoming a regular visitor to our blogs would be the best of both worlds! And, if by chance, you are stuck in the house, we can still welcome you to the Library with a virtual smile, and, if you'd like, you even have the opportunity to respond to what we write by posting your own comments on our blogs! We always look forward to hearing from you.

Food For Fines a Huge Success!
|
Food for Fines was a tremendous success.
Today we donated 1368 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.
In total we donated 3477 pounds of food, which exceeds our original goal of collecting one ton.
Thanks again to all who made this a success!
