Laughing Matters

Summer is meant for wonder and smiles. Hopefully family, vacation, and everyday joys and surprises will provide a wonderful assortment of both. We plan to add to your summer enjoyment with a new program at the Library...Adult Summer Reading! Summer reading for those of us over a certain age denotes fun, and the reward is in the experience itself. However, when it comes to summer reading, why should the kids have all the fun? We launch our Adult Summer Reading program with the theme, "Humor Me!" and we're offering prizes!
The program will run from June 19th through August 23rd. Register at the Front Desk, and receive your Grand Prize entry forms, a reading journal, and a list of suggested books. Submit a Grand Prize entry form for each book you read. Forms can be submitted in person or online. For more information and to register, visit us at www.darienlibrary.org/programs/humor-me. Once you've read five books, come to the Front Desk to receive a special prize. All books and audio books count!
The Grand Prize winners will be selected from all the entries on Wednesday, August 23rd when we present "The Last Laugh," our Grand Finale. From 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. delight in the humorous tales of renowed storyteller J.G. "Paw-Paw" Pinkerton, enjoy some refreshments, and stay for the prize drawings.
