Winter 2006 Teen Exploits
Confidentially, when I started to make the winter teen flyer, I thought it would fill half a page. Now, looking at the double sided full page list of teen events, I'm very pleased at everything we have to offer in the upcoming months. There isn't room here to describe it all, so I'll direct you to the full online schedule, and then mention just a few highlights.
- Volunteering - Teen have always been a crucial part of many of our larger Children's Room events, and we'd love to see teens volunteer this January to help paint decorations and be assistants at our Nutmeg @ Nite event.
- Computer Classes - After paying close attention to our Teen Advisory Board, parents, and teachers, we're offering 3 classes - Photoshop, Excel, and Invisible Web. Sign ups begin January 2nd.
- Teen Advisory Board - Our Teen Advisory Board is awesome! They've helped plan a movie showing in January (The Princess Bride), a chocolate workshop in February, and two other meetings in March and April. New members are welcome, and sign ups start in January.
A great schedule, and I've just skimmed the surface of everything. More soon.

The Princess Bride is one of the greatest movies EVER.

What will the Invisible Web classes be like?
Caitlin's answer: We'll look at a few of our online databases, ones especially suited to middle school use. We try to make the class as interactive as possible so that the teens find the class useful and targeted. In the past we've looked at a photo database, magazines and newspapers, and a news site, but, as I said, we tend to be flexible during the class itself. Send another comment if that doesn't answer it!
