Printz Award winners

White Dark.jpg

The winner of this year's Printz Award is The White Darkness by Geraldine McCaughrean. The Printz Award is given for excellence in young adult literature. Honor books were Dreamquake: Book Two of the Dreamhunter Duet by Elizabeth Knox, One Whole and Perfect Day by Judith Clarke, Repossessed by A.M. Jenkins, and Your Own, Sylvia: A Verse Portrait of Sylvia Plath by Stephanie Hemphill.

Teens in the Library's Predicting the Printz group had different ideas about the best teen books of the year! Their top prediction for the Printz Award was Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin. In this book, high school student Naomi has a nasty fall, realizes that she has no memory of the last four years, and finds herself reassessing every aspect of her life. One teen believed that Naomi, the main character, was so realistic that it felt like she was in the room with her!

As honor books, our teens chose Alabama Moon by Watt Key, Evil Genius by Catherine Jinks, and Shark Girl by Kelly Bingham.
