September 3rd through October 20th
The work of Kari Cholnoky will be on display in the Library's Lower Level Art Gallery.
Cholnoky's work examines contemporary psychology as it is affected by and interacts with physical material. She transforms the mass produced into the highly specific and handled, creating works that stare back at their viewer. Currently New York based, Cholnoky is a recent graduate of the Cranbrook Academy of Art MFA program, located outside of Detroit, MI. Her work has been exhibited in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, Detroit and Singapore, and she has been awarded residencies in Singapore and Berlin, Germany. In May of 2014, Cholnoky was awarded the Merdeces-Benz Financial Services 2014 Emerging Artist Award, which provided her with a studio loft at the Kunstlerhaus Bethanien during the following summer months.
