Calling all moms, entrepreneurs, college students, or anyone interested in learning the basics of computer coding! We will explore programming in Python. Think of it as like a new language: in addition to learning syntax, and writing scripts, we will work on developing computational thinking—breaking down big problems into simple individual tasks. The best news? No experience is necessary! Students are required to bring a laptop for use during this class.

This class is open to Darien Residents, those employed full time in Darien, or non-residents who are contributors to the Darien Library Annual Campaign at the $300 level.

Friday Night Feature - 'Le Chef'

Friday, June 26th at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. - Le Chef (2012) Starring Jean Reno, Michaël Youn, Julien Boisselier, Raphaëlle Agogué, Salomé Stévenin, and Serge Larivière; Rated PG-13; 85 minutes; Presented with captions for the hearing impaired.

A famous chef finds his position at a renowned restaurant threatened by a young hotshot who specializes in chemically enhanced cuisine, and partners with a self-taught gourmet to save his failing career. Alexandre Lagarde (Jean Reno) is the king of the kitchen at Cargo Lagarde. But his position at the top is threatened when scheming CEO Stanislas Matter (Julien Boisselier) plots to have the restaurant's rating lowered in order to make room for an ambitious young chef with more modern sensibilities. Meanwhile, things go from bad to worse for the old pro when he runs out of new ideas as Matter begins trimming his kitchen staff. Just when it seems that all hope is lost, however, Legarde meets Jacky Bonnot (Michaël Youn), a young cook whose creativity in the kitchen makes up for his lack of formal training. Together with his talented new assistant Bonnot, Legarde prepares to whip up an exciting menu just in time to impress the discerning critics from the Guide, and save his sinking career.
