Wednesday, September 17th at 1:30 p.m. - To Have and Have Not (1944) Starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall; Not rated; 100 minutes; Closed captioned for the hearing impaired.

Help the Free French? Not world-weary gunrunner Harry Morgan (Humphrey Bogart). But he changes his mind when a sultry siren-in-distress named Marie asks, "Anybody got a match?" That red-hot match is Bogart and 19-year-old first-time film actress Lauren Bacall. Full of intrigue and racy banter (including Bacall's legendary whistling instructions), this thriller excites further interest for what it has and has not.

"The scenes between Bogart and Bacall are so dazzlingly about attraction and sex that they encapsulate the whole magic of movies." -- Douglas Pratt, Hollywood Reporter

An extramarital affair blossoms into a marriage defined by tragedy and hardship in this emotional family drama from director/screenwriter Don Roos. When Emilia met Jack, she was the other woman. In time, she became his only woman. Shortly after attempting to start their new life together by having a child of their own, their newborn dies suddenly. Compounding Emilia's grief over the loss of her child is the fact that her adolescent stepson, William, seems intent on making her life miserable.

"One of the bigger challenges in Natalie Portman's career, and she responds with sublime work." -- Richard Roeper, RichardRoeper.com

All levels are welcome. Bring your questions. Ben will offer attendees guidance on artistic and technical aspects of photographing, including equipment, editing and image selection. Each session limited to three people.

About the Artist

Ben’s formal training as an artist began in 1962 at the Rhode Island School of Design (BFA) where he discovered his passion through mentor and world renowned photographer Harry Callahan. In 1978, he returned to college to earn an MFA from Yale University.

His fine art background has trained him to photograph as an artist so by instinct he includes artistic elements of composition, rhythm, texture and space in his images. In addition to portraits, he also photographs landscapes and nudes.

Ben has work in the permanent collections of: The George Eastman House (Rochester), The High Museum (Atlanta), The Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), and The Museum of Modern Art (New York).
