Introduction to Arduino: four week course

Course begins on Wednesday, February 4th and ends on Wednesday, February 25th

Join us for an introductory course that will give you hands-on experience with a tiny yet powerful microcontroller. The Arduino microcontroller allows you to build projects that sense real world properties such as temperature, illumination, and magnetism - light up a light with different colors, make some sound, turn on a motor, or operate another electronic device.

This course will consist of hands-on labs where you will build and program your own circuits. No previous programming or electronics experience necessary. The material we will cover has applications for both inventors and artists. An Arduino kit will be provided for use during the class, however students are required to bring a laptop with the Arduino software installed.  Download the software here

Course is limited to Darien residents, those who work in Darien full-time, and Friends who have donated at the $300 level or higher.

IRS-Certified Trained AARP volunteer tax aides are available to local residents of all ages and incomes at no charge. The nation’s largest, free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service is available to all individual filers regardless of income or age.  Started in 1968 and, since 1980, this service has operated under a cooperative agreement with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

If married, both husband and wife should be present.  Certain forms and personal and financial documents are required.  Taxpayers must bring:

Identity Documentation
- Government Issued Photo ID.
- Social Security or ITIN numbers for all taxpayers and dependents.
- Bank account/routing numbers (blank check preferable), if expecting a refund.

All 2014 income report forms received
- SSA1099 if you were paid Social Security benefits.
- W-2(s) from your employer(s).
- W-2G from gambling winnings.
- 1099G from unemployment compensation payments.
- 1099s: Bank interest, stock dividends, retirement distributions, brokers.

Other Important Documents
- Receipts for deductible expenses including real estate and vehicle taxes paid.
- Verification of the original purchase price of sold assets (home, stocks, etc.).
- Receipts/canceled checks if itemizing deductions (e.g., charity contributions).
- Proof of Health Insurance (Form 1095-A from Health Insurance Marketplace or private plan identification).

Copy of last year’s Federal and State tax return(s), if possible.

Along the way, their own professional and personal lives comes in as these slightly older men's friendship comes through.

Join us for a film screening of the HBO documentary Thank You, Mr. President: Helen Thomas at the White House. Rory Kennedy, daughter of Robert F; Kennedy and niece of former President John F. Kennedy, profiles legendary White House journalist Helen Thomas in this documentary tribute to the woman who has build an entire career of keeping America informed about the latest happenings in Washington, D.C. About the Presenter

Dr. Salvatore Carbonaro is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascaular disease, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. His interests include treatment of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, cardiovascular prevention, and cardiac imaging. He attended Fairfield University and completed his graduate and medical education at New York Medical College. Dr. Carbonaro is committed to providing compassionate and up-to-date cardiovascular care for his patients.
