Granted, I am biased,
but when "The Complete, Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics" crossed my desk, I just had to take a look. The annotations are by David Dodd, the City Librarian for San Rafael, California. They are meticulous and full of fascinating information.
I had always considered them one of the most literate bands around and Dodd shows us just how literate they truly were. Who else can use references not only to the poet Blaise Pascal ("the heart has its reasons) and "Goodnight Irene" in the same song? This is lots of fun and a must for any Deadhead, or those that love them.
