It's time for the Mother's Day pick for Cirque De Cinema!
And what else could it be but the 1981 camp classic "Mommie Dearest"?
By now the stories of wire hangers and Bon Ami are legendary, but it is worth another peek. Faye Dunaway gives an over the top portrayal of Joan Crawford who will do anything to stay on top of the Hollywood heap. Including using her adopted children Christina and Christopher as publicity.
My favorite Mommie Moment? It's hard to pick they are all so great but I really do think it has to be the Board Room scene after the death of her husband. Those poor guys had no idea what was comin' down the pike at them!
Happy Mother's Day and Happy Weekend!

So just like "A Christmas Story" during (dare I mention that so recently passed season) winter holiday, we should all watch this wonderful movie on motherly abuse to feel better about the emotional damage our own mothers instilled in us. I looove this pick for the week. Personally my mother is great and I must say that now I do plan on saying to her on mothers day, "Hey mom, it's so great that you can remain glamorous and beautiful without ever resembling Joan Crawford." What an odd way to show love. *smile*
