Sometimes when you travel,

in a physical sense, what you see makes you want to travel mentally and learn more about what you have just seen.

This very thing happened to me this weekend. I was lucky enough to be in Lenox Massachusetts and was able to pay a visit to The Mount the beloved home of Edith Wharton. Seeing this beautiful place which was so important to one of our great American voices made me want to know more about her than what I already did.

Luckily for me, the definitive biography was published this spring. Edith Wharton by Hermoine Lee is a wonderful look at the life of a very unique woman. Wharton was truly a Renaissance woman with interests ranging far past just literature.

So for the next few days I will be revisiting my wonderful weekend and putting a new spin on what I saw by learning more about the remarkable woman who lived there.
