Darien Library is upgrading our generator so that the Library will remain open in the future when there would otherwise be no power. Work started on installing the new generator on Tuesday, October 1st. Conduits for the underground power cables have now been buried through the parking lot so the side road access to the Library is open again. Parking is now available on all of the parking lot, though it is likely to be closed on the side next to Nielsen’s on some days during the next stages of construction.
The Library will open late at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23rd while some electrical work is done inside the building. The power will be turned off for the safety of the electricians. This date is subject to change.
At the end of the month, the new generator will be delivered and installed in the back right corner of the parking lot. Tentatively, the Library will be closed all day on Monday, November 4th while we do a final switchover of all wiring associated with the new generator.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
