As a result of the two App Chats the Children's Library hosted this past month, we have identified so many great new apps that we'd like to share more than one this month. In fact, this month we have six to pass along to our patrons. Below is a list of the top apps we have discovered, tested, and deemed noteworthy. Endless Alphabet is an intuitive and easy way to expose pre-readers and new learners to letters, phonetics, and new vocabulary. New words are added each week at no cost - and the app is Free! Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod.

LetterSchool, a Kapi-award winner for 2013 as announced by the Children's Technology Review, stands out among letter-recognition apps for its highly usable interface and jazzy imagery. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod, $2.99.

The Hugless Douglas eBook app (based on the book of the same name by David Melling) includes well-thought functions and discoverable features that will keep readers of all ages engaged and amused. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod, $2.99.

Superhero Comic Book Maker is a great addition to iPads belonging to families with kids that love superheros, reading, and creating, or any combination of the three! Users have the option of selecting different backgrounds, monsters, and superheros, and can record their own voice to narrate their story. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod, $1.99.

ABC Food, an app from the award-winning ABC app series by PeaPod Labs, earns a spot on this list due to its standout design and utterly delicious pictures of food. It's a great app for drumming up interest in new and unique foods that some users may not already be familiar with, and also educates children with new vocabulary and spelling. Grimm's Sleeping Beauty, an eBook app version of the classic fairy tale, shows readers a fresh new take on a familiar story.
