Darien Library and Darien Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) are pleased to present Dr. Alan Wachtel on ADHD & Mood Disorders: New Strategies and Treatments.  

Dr. Wachtel will discuss strategies, medication options and treatments for children who struggle with mood and attention. He will cover school-based accommodations and strategies. Research has shown that parents and teachers need to foster a child’s focus to maximize a child’s ability to learn. In addition, he will address the benefits and risks of various treatments and decisions when to commence or postpone treatment at various stages of a child's life.

Dr. Wachtel is the author of The Attention Deficit Answer Book. He is a board certified psychiatrist is the founder and director of Familyhealth Associates and a Distinguished Life Fellow APA.

Our science, technology, engineering, arts, and math classes in the T|E|A room are now open for registration.  Classes include Brushbots, Duct Tape Lunchboxes, Feltmaking, Model Magic Solar Systems, Balloon Rockets, and many many more.

T|E|A Room Tuesdays are held Tuesday afternoons from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., and are open to children in Grades 3 to 6.

Come see some of the hottest films of this past year in preparation for the film industry's biggest night! Enjoy a screening of a selection of the 2015 Oscar nominated films in January and February. 

Kid-friendly film The Boxtrolls will screen Monday, February 2nd at 6:30 p.m. The film is rated PG, running time 95 minutes.

Is your child learning to read? Reading Education Assistance Dogs will visit the Children's Library to encourage beginning readers and promote literacy. Register for a 15 minute reading session with a certified therapy dog. Readers ages 5 and up.
