Remediation

Demolition Day January 2006 074.jpg

In January we started remediation work on the site -- at 1441 Post Road, Darien, where we will construct the new building. One of the two properties we acquired had been a service station for many years, and we knew we had to undertake some environmental cleanup work.

The first step was to tear down the existing building, so we could remove the contaminated soil below ground.

I took a picture of the first bites.

Dear Alan:

Not having read all of the detailed information posted to date, I wondered about possible plans for the inclusion of an art gallery to serve the commuity within the structure. I also wondered about the possibility of an interested local collector donating a bronze work of art (or possibly 2 or even 3!) to further enhance and adorn the site. Themes of children learning and natural local coastal wildfowl were mentioned.

Who might I speak with in regards to my questions? Also, is it possible to get a copy of the proposed plans, in their current stage? (9/2/2006)

Thank you for your time and kind consideration.
