“Monday at Seven,” is an initiative to provide resources to Job Seekers and Networkers. We will open our doors every Monday (or the first day of the workweek if Monday is a holiday) from 7 to 9 a.m. to provide a resource and meeting center for residents of Darien and Darien Library members.
The current economic climate has more people finding themselves in transition - searching for employment or preparing for new expectations of employers. We looked for ways to address the needs in the community and as a result, the Library Board of Trustees has organized a program to focus the tools and services available at the Library. “Monday at Seven” will provide a collaborative forum for the exchange of information as well as allow participants to use Library technology and other resources to update their knowledge of current events, the economy and specific industries, and research job prospects. Access to computers, office software, specialized databases, and the Internet will be available and documents and resumes may be printed and faxed at no cost. “Monday at Seven” also provides the physical space for meetings, education, and networking. Participants may also receive resume advice and Library staff will provide technology assistance and proofreading support. Darien Library Assistant Director Alan Gray explained, “The objective will be to provide a basis for Job Seekers and Networkers to have a task-oriented destination at the beginning of each week. With all the elements of a business event, we hope those seeking employment, changing careers, or returning to the workplace can benefit from the program which will also include weekly speakers.”
Industry experts, recruiters, community service providers, and outplacement specialists will be among the “Monday at Seven” speakers.
“Monday at Seven” Schedule
7 a.m. – Library open for participants. Resources are available, and Library
