HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

•    Teens 12 and up join at darienlibrary.org/teens. Sign-up begins June 22, 2009.

•    Each week, review the books you’ve read (or listened to as audio books) on our website to be eligible for weekly drawings of $25 gift cards to Apple, Game Stop, Amazon.com, and Darien stores.

•    Teens who review three books by Wednesday, August 26 will be entered in our grand prize raffle for an Xbox 360, as well as receive a party pass. This is an invitation to the Summer Reading Finale Party on August 27.

Book Discussions

Teen Nutmeg Book Groups
Discuss the Nutmeg nominees with other teen readers. Copies of the books are available for check-out at the Library. Pizza dinner provided. All Nutmeg Book Groups start at 6 p.m. For grades 6 to 8. Registration is not required.

Held on the last Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. For teens entering grades 7 and 8. Pizza dinner provided. Registration is not required.

Rock Out with Rock Band
We’ll bring the guitars, the drums, and the mic. You just need to rock!

Dessert Bake-Off
Bring your best dessert and taste the competition’s. The winner gets a $20 iTunes gift card.

Puzzle Competition

Spa Day
Relax. Do some yoga, drink smoothies, and catch up with friends.

Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m., stop by the Teen Lounge to watch a movie and have refreshments. Go to darienlibrary.org/teens to find out what movie is showing any given week.

Graphic Novel Workshop
Immerse yourself in comics. Learn how to tell a story using storyboards and panels from T. Motley, a professional cartoonist. Please register by emailing sludwig@darienlibrary.org or visiting the Teen Lounge. Lunch will be provided.

Sign up for volunteer opportunities beginning Monday, May 18. Sign up in the Children's Room, by phone, or by emailing crstaff@darienlibrary.org.
Teens will earn community service hours for these activities.
