Julian Rodriguez is a fantastic book. It is written by Alexander Stadler. Julian is an "alien" from outer space and complains to the "mother ship" about the "maturnal unit". The maternal unit requires a lot from Julian. He has to take out the garbage sit through standard testing and deal with girls. Julian is also deprived of Ring Dings, Strawberry Fizzz, and Cool Ranch Krispy Poofs, the maternal unit substitutes those with carrots, water, and veggie dogs. There are parts of the book that have not been thought through because it is not clear whether Julian is a human or alien. Did his parents adopt him and he was sent to an orphanage or is he just crazy. This book appeals to children 7-9, my 9 year old brother read it and loved it because it is filled with humor that he can relate to.
