Darien Library is an affiliate library with FamilySearch, allowing access to billions of microfilmed birth, marriage, death, census, land, and court records from over 130 countries.

Microfilmed records are ordered for loan directly from the FamilySearch archives in Salt Lake City, UT, at a cost of $7.50 per reel.

How to request microfilm:
  1. You will first need to create a free account at FamilySearch.org and sign in.
  2. Visit the FamilySearch Catalog to find the microfilm you would like to view. Make sure the microfilm has not been digitized and is already available online.
  3. Follow the steps to order your film online. Pay for the requested items using a credit card, debit card or PayPal account. (The first time you order, you’ll be prompted to select your default family history center—select Darien Library.)
  4. You will receive an email when the film is delivered to Darien Library.
  5. Film will be held at the Library for three months, allowing you to view it at your convenience (ask for your film at the Reference Desk on the second level).
