This is a delightfully well written novel that made me both laugh out loud and cry. It's told in the alternating voices of three main characters, each so convincing that you identify with all three. An added bonus are wonderful scenes for foodies.

I made Lahey's basic no-knead bread last weekend and it was delicious. His book has easy directions and includes photos of each step in the process. You need a 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 quart dutch oven to bake the bread in. No kneading, just mix together the dough and let it rise for 12- 18 hours. A delicious crusty, rustic round loaf. There are several books out that use the "no-knead" method, but I think Lahey was the first to develop it for the Sullivan Street Bakery in Brooklyn.

This is my new favorite cookbook for healthy eating. Ellie Krieger doesn't believe in using "no fat" ingredients if they sacrifice quality, and has created recipes that are healthy and use modest amounts of ingredients that are higher in fat than the "no fat" alternatives. Great list of foods to keep in the pantry and in the freezer for good healthy meals.
