This is the best cookbook for baking, ever. It explains the chemistry in layman's terms so that you really do understand the difference between baking with butter or margarine, for example. It's full of useful tips. My favorite is to drop the cookie sheets onto the table from a foot in the air, to force the air out of the just baked cookies. Makes them softer! It's comprehensive, with many variations on standard recipes.

This series is so well written that it is used to teach creative writing classes. Full of history, interesting characters, humor, suspense, vivid descriptions of exotic places, flora and fauna. Read the whole series!
Delightful dual biography

This is a delightful biography of Freeman Dyson and his son. Father and son do not get along and yet they share the same intense eyes and the same dream to reach a place where no one has ever been. The father wants to go in a spaceship; his hippie son, in a canoe.
Perfect ending

This book is so well written and the translation is lyrical. I didn't want it to end, but the ending is perfect! One of my favorite all time reads. A love story like no other.
