Jamie's big brother goes to Vietnam to fight. She thinks it's the coolest thing ever, but when her brother begins sending her photographs, Jaime begins to rethink her beliefs.
This is it! Levine's voice is soothing, not condescending. His versions of classic children's musical fare keep the melodies you know and love, but add a fresh, almost folksy freshness.
A New Classic!

Simple concept- boy asks the zoo to send him a pet. Zoo sends him all sorts of exotic creatures but none are quite right. (Elephant is too big, giraffe too tall, frog too jumpy, etc.) But the very last pet they send is just right. And so is this wonderful read-aloud winner from Rob Campbell. The lift-the-flap version is my favorite- interactive, clever, and fun.

Repeats the refrain, "Is this the bus for us, Gus?" on every other page. In between, various vehicles pass by the group of waiting children- including a garbage truck, a backhoe, a tow truck, and a taxi. Great for kids who love tranportation stories, plus a great pre-literacy builder with all the wonderful vocab and rhyming words. A terrific picturebook all-around!
