Trusting the World Wide Web that this author's writing style is similar to Nelson Demille, I picked this book. I was disappointed. It was an ok read.
It is your typical immigrant story chasing the american dream but told beautifully. Almost five generations of the same German American family's story unfolds and each generation is covered brilliantly starting from WWI. A very good read.
It is a quick but depressing and frustrating read. Depressing because of McCourt family's struggle due to abject poverty. Frustrating because, even though its written very well, you feel like reading the same thing again and again.
Great story but cannot say the same about writing. There are several interesting characters but none is relatable.
It came highly recommended from a fellow reader Jane. It is interesting because - a very sad childhood and a difficult family story told through subtle comic strips. A memoir like nothing else.
