I love Kingsolver's other books, but this one is different. As a nonfiction story, it is a bit tougher to get through. She is a bit preachy and she isn't living how many of us actually live, especially around Darien I think. Having said that, I completely agree with her thesis of eating locally grown foods for our own benefit and for the benefit of the planet, and I only wish I could live her life. She has inspired me to improve my eating, shopping and gardening habits and I will continue to strive to improve. I have been looking forward to reading this book since before it was published, and I wasn't let down. I enjoyed reading it, even if it was a little long, but it got easier to read the more I got into it. I gave the book 4 stars.
