Have you ever wondered, "What was that book I loved so much last year?" or "How many books did I read this month?"
Darien Library can now help you answer these questions quickly and easily. We are excited to introduce My Checkout History! In a nutshell, My Checkout History is as an optional feature that allows you to keep track of the items you check out. The information is readily accessible through your account on our website or by request at the Welcome Desk.
This feature will be activated for everyone on January 1, 2014. For people who do not choose to use My Checkout History, it is easy to disable.
By using My Checkout History, the Library's online catalog will retain for your personal use a list of all materials that you borrow, for your personal reference. You will be able to remove individual items from your patron history at any time if you wish. If you do choose to disable this feature, there will be no way to access a list of previously checked out materials.
Some Library users may be concerned about privacy issues related to circulation information being kept as records of library activity. Please be aware that using My Checkout History means that your information is being stored on a Darien Library server and Library staff will not access or release your reading history unless required to do so by Federal and State Laws which requires a court order for anyone but you to access your records.*
My Checkout History for children up to 12 years old is accessible to their parents or legal guardians. For Library patrons between the ages of 13 and 17, parental access is at the discretion of the teenager. We will always allow parents to have information about their children's items that are currently overdue or lost, since that is part of the patron's account, not their history.
Please be sure to maintain the confidentaility of your password, since anyone with access to your Library website account can check your reading history or any other information attached to your account.
My Checkout History keeps a record of items checked out from Darien Library. A checkout history of eBooks and digital audiobooks is available directly through your OverDrive and 3M Cloud Library accounts.
*Connecticut State Law (General Statute sec.11-25) guarantees the confidentality of library patron borrowing records.

2) Information contained in such records shall not be released to any third party, except (A) pursuant to a court order, or (B) with the written permission of the library user whose personal information is contained in the records.
