Need high quality scans of photos or documents? Come to the Lower Level's Power Library to borrow a scanner while you work. These scanners can be attached to any Library computer in the Power Library or Tech Center using only the USB cord.

Slides and Negatives Scanner

To scan your slides and negatives, come use the scanner in the Digital Media Lab (DML). You can scan up to five slides at a time. Access to the DML is limited to Darien residents, people who work in Darien full-time, and Friends who have donated $300 or more. Just stop by the Help Desk or call 203-669-5238 to make a reservation. 

Bookeye 4 KIC Scanner

The KIC scanner can handle books, magazines, photographs, and newspapers in a variety of sizes, and scans up to a 17-inch by 24-inch area at a time. It's easy to use, simply follow the step-by-step instructions on the screen. If you need assistance, please ask a Reference Librarian-- they would be happy to assist you!

Scan to Email

Need to quickly scan a document and send it via email?  Just visit the copier machine in the back left corner of SoHo on the Lower Level. Simply enter your email address and place your document in the feeder with the text facing the ceiling to get started. Documents will arrive in your email as PDFs. Ask for assistance at the Help Desk. 

Microfilm Reader
The Microfilm Reader is located on the Second Level by the Local History section. You can digitally edit the image and then save them to a variety of cloud services, email the images, or print.
