Drop-In T|E|A Programs

Calling all Makers! The T|E|A Room (Technology, Engineering, & the Arts) is open for free play, exploration, creation and discovery. Grades 3-6.

For the month of January, we'll be offering our Open T|E|A Room Program on Tuesdays, January 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 4:00- 5:00pm.

Open T|E|A Room topics are:

January 6th: Simple Machines

USiogn everyday household materials we will create our own Simple Machines.

January 13th: Chroma Candy

Solve mysteries using the forensic technique chromatography.  Science will show us who committed candy crimes!

January 20th: Artstraw Architecture

Let's test the boundaries of physics and build skyscrapers, bridges, and towers - out of paper straws! 

January 27th: Book Collage

Breath new life into an old book and create a 3-D work of art using collage material and drawn objects. One man's scrap paper is another man's treasure!

Registration starts Janaury 19th!

T|E|A Room Tuesdays are held Tuesday afternoons from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., and are open to children in Grades 3 to 6.

Duct Tape Lunch Boxes**

Tuesday, February 10th  at 4:15pm

Tired of brown bagging it every day at lunch? Want to Go Green with a reusable lunch box? Come craft a DIY lunch box with us - we've got sharp scissors and enough duct tape to go around. Grades 5 to 6.

Feltmaking**

Tuesday, February 17th at 4:15pm

The magic of wool!  We will make felted beads out of wool roving that you can turn into jewelry, game pieces, and more, and we’ll learn about the science of fibers. Grades 5 to 6

Balloon Rockets*

Tuesday, February 24th at 4:15pm

Is it a bird, a plane? No it’s a balloon rocket! Zip, soar and spin as we fashion rockets out of common household products. Grades 3 to 4.

A toothbrush + a motor + a battery= a robot.

Model Magic Solar System*

Tuesday, March 10th at 4:15pm

How big is Saturn, really? How far away from Mercury is Earth? Find out as we build to-scale versions of the eight planets (and one dwarf planet) in our solar system! Grades 3 to 4.

Steam Mystery Bag

Tuesday, March 17th at 4:15pm 

Each participant will receive a plain bag containing a mysterious project. Are you up for the challenge? Grades 3 to 6.

Interactive Drawing**

Tuesday, March 24th at 4:15pm

Using the iPad camera and our drawing skills, we will create simple drawings interacting with the human world in a creative way. Learn tech skills and leave with an awesome art piece! Grades 5 to 6.

Makerbot*

Tuesday,March 31st at 4:15pm

Come learn about 3D print industry. Participants will even get to try their hand at making their own 3D rendered designs! Grades 3 to 4.

Make a light painting with a flashlight and a dark room.

Shoe Box Cities

Tuesday, April 21st at 4:15pm

Plan a city, then take it home! Using recycled materials, we will create our dream cities after a discussion of city planning, the future, and where we want to live.

Grades 3 to 6.

Gelatin Art Prints**

Tuesday, April 28th at 4:15pm

Using sheets of gelatin, intrepid printmakers will get to experiment with this unique medium and design art prints.

Grades 5 to 6.
