Darien Technology Foundation Center The Darien Technology Foundation Center at the Darien Library was funded by a grant from the Darien Technology Foundation. The purpose of this room is to introduce new technology and educate patrons in the use of new software applications. The PC's provide the same options as the public terminals in the main room with additional software applications and technology (listed below). Technology aides are available to assist patrons and the room is available to all library patrons. The Technology Center will be in use for classroom instruction and training about 20% of the time. Technology education classes Classroom Instruction and Training The Technology Center is available for classes and programs for adults, children and community groups. The classes offered for adults follow the Library's pattern of providing hands-on technology training in particular subject areas. Classes and programs for children, teens, and their parents are conducted on Internet-related subjects, such as child-specific sites, homework reference resources and Internet safety concerns. The Technology Center is also available for community groups to access computer and multimedia technology not available to them elsewhere. The Library provides Web hosting services to more than 50 community groups, many of whom will benefit from the resources such a room provides. |
