Introduction to Memoir: Telling Your Life Stories
Join us as we discuss the best ways to begin writing your memoir, either as a full-length book or as individual essays. We'll learn how to focus on our life experiences, write a descriptive summary with plot points, and use the techniques of fiction -- setting, character, dialogue -- to enrich the storytelling process so readers will want to read your book.

Last week the first ever Darien Minecraft Olympics was a great sucess!
Players battled it out bracket-style, competing in awesome games like Pig Rodeo and Climbing.
Check out pictures of the craftletes and their battles on our Flickr photostream! http://www.flickr.com/photos/darienlibrary/sets/72157630357477122/
A big thanks to Chris, Jimmy and Jacob who created the Olympic map for us and our server adminstrator John for making it all happen! Calling all teen artists! We have BIG news: this summer, Darien Library is teaming up with Portland Public Library for a Tumblr Virtual Art Show! Break out your sketchbooks, paints, and pastels and get working on your next masterpiece!
All summer long, you can submit your artwork to share with teens from around New England. What makes this opportunity so unique is that you'll be able to check out what teens your age are inspired by and vice versa. So whatever medium you prefer--painting, sculpture, photography, charcoal, comic strips--start thinking about what you'd like to display on our virtual art gallery!
When you're ready to submit your artwork, we'll photograph it into a curate-tion sensation! Contact Erica Gauquier, Teen Services Librarian, at: firstname.lastname@example.org or at: (203) 669-5225, for all the details and/or any additional questions.
We can’t wait to see what you’ll make!
Need an Avengers fix?
With The Avengers raking in over $200.3 million dollars this weekend (yes, you read that right!) and $600 million worldwide, it's safe to say that the summer movie season has officially started--and packed quite a punch! Crushing the competition and breaking opening weekend records, it seems like everyone was at the movies seeing Thor & co. give villainous Loki a well deserved smackdown.
So if you've seen it--and are hankering for more awesome superhero action--then browse a few of these titles featuring not only the Avengers gang, but other webbed-and-caped crusaders! And if you haven't seen the flick, check out this review from Entertainment Weekly to see what all the fuss is about.
Also, don't forget to stop by the Teen Lounge for our Graphic Novel Giveaway this Tuesday, May 8th!
