The Top Ten Secrets Teens Should Know Before Applying for College

Author, Annette Bosley-Boyce
Author, Annette Bosley-Boyce

On Thursday, January 24th at 7PM  join Annette Bosley-Boyce, author of The College Success Plan for the top ten secrets teens and their parents should know before Applying for college. Did you know only 36% of college students’ graduate from college within four years?  Did you know a majority of college students agree to student loan terms that will last for the next 20 to 30 years of their adult lives?  In this library discussion, Annette Bosley-Boyce, author of The College Success Plan, will explain unknown facts, tips, and strategies to help teens and their parents develop a realistic and beneficial plan before applying for college--one that inspires teens to set goals for themselves on career planning and college financing.  By the end of this class, teens will have developed a new shift in thinking. Instead of feeling honored because they were selected by a college, they will realize that it's the college that should feel honored about being selected.  This program is recommended for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors and their parents. This presentation will take place in the community room of the Library. For more information contact Teen Librarian, Erica Gauquier at egauquier@darienlibrary.org or (203) 669-5225.

*There will be a book signing following the program.

Get ready...The 4th Annual Darien Library Teen Writing Competition is about to begin!

Throughout the years we have met a lot of talented teens here at the Library and we know that many of you love to write. Now is your chance to share your writing and try for some great prizes. Not only is there a $100 for the winner in each age group and category, but this year we are offering a scholarship prize of $500 for one lucky winner. And can you imagine putting this on your college applications?

We're so excited to read your work, whether it's poetry, fiction, or non-fiction. If you have any questions about the competition, contact Teen Librarian, Erica Gauquier at egauquier@darienlibrary.org or (203) 669-5225.
